It is above all the splendid colors that make gemstones so special. Often, the type of gemstone is rather secondary, as long as the color is right. Gemstone Color – Criteria for Value and Price
Color is one of the most important criteria for evaluating a gemstone. The stronger the color, the more valuable the gemstone. Stones with unusual coloring are particularly precious and sometimes a color may just be popular or in fashion to render the gem pricey.
In general, intense colors are much more popular than very dark or very light colors. Though the completely colorless Diamond as an exception, is one of the most valued gemstones.
Gemstones can be found in all colors imaginable. Some are multicolored, others completely black or completely white and again others shine in a splendid blue, red or green. Choose gemstones according to your favorite color.
