People have always been fascinated by gemstones and their believed effects. Thus, the jewelry, talismans, and elixirs made from gems are thought to protect their users from misfortune or black magic. The history of healing stones dates back to the Stone Age, on to Hildegard von Bingen in the 12th century, and extends to the present day.
The following three treatments with healing stones are used today:
- Wearing the stone
- Laying the stone on the body
- Drinking gemstone water
Healing therapy procedure
Wearing the healing stone is the simplest form of gemstone therapy. The gem is worn as a pendant or a chain of gemstones. Depending on the type of stone and on the desired effect, the stone should either be worn directly on the skin or over clothing. The vibrations of the crystal lattice thereby positively influence the body’s atomic vibrations.
Placing the stone on your body is a more effective therapy. This may be done on a diseased or damaged body part, near an organ, or along a specific meridian. By the targeted application of the healing stone, the diseased cells are healed or energy blockades can be released. A treatment with gemstones usually takes about half an hour. The duration should not be too long, otherwise the body may become over-stimulated.
Drinking gemstone water is also one of the most popular modern applications of healing stone therapy. This is an internal treatment with gemstones where the selected healing stones are placed in a glass of water for at least 5 hours. After the stones have been removed from the water, it can be drunk throughout the day.
Gemstone therapy can also be combined with other alternative treatments, such as with Bach flower therapy, Homeopathy or Kinesiology.
Reiki with gemstones
Reiki with gemstones is also a very popular therapy. Ursula Klinger Omenka, for example, describes the gemstones as “natural, strong and concentrated light forces”.
A very interesting and instructive book is Rainbow Reiki – New Paths of Shamanic Healing with Consciousness by Walter Lubeck.
Rainbow Reiki is based on the Usui Natural Healing System and is taught by renowned Reiki master and trainer, Walter Lübeck. It is a form of shamanic healing and enhancement techniques. After explaining the basics of (Rainbow) Reiki, the author describes in detail the application of power sources with gemstones and herbal remedies.
